Abdiwahab Mohamed

Abdiwahab has been Minnesota Trade Office’s Regional Trade Manager for Africa, Middle East and India since 2017. He promotes international trade and provides technical assistance, training, and counseling to Minnesota businesses wishing to enter the international marketplace.

Abdiwahab also serves as the Protocol Officer for Africa and Middle East coordinating and receiving visiting dignitaries to the state of Minnesota. Abdiwahab led the state’s first trade mission to an African country and often presents on Africa and Middle East matters. He also leads the state’s outreach efforts to the diverse diaspora business community to increase its business relations with Africa, Middle East, and India.

Abdiwahab is privileged to have lived, studied, and worked in Africa before joining the Trade Office, Abdiwahab held various management positions in international development at USAID contracted projects in East Africa.

Abdiwahab holds a master’s in international studies and a bachelor’s in political science and economics from the Institute of Diplomacy and International Studies at the University of Nairobi.
