Mrs. Nelima Sitati Munene

Founding Board Chair

Nelima Sitati Munene is a dynamic thought leader, visionary and strategist. She serves as the Executive Director of the African Career Education & Resource, Inc (ACER), a leading and innovative issue-based organization, uplifting community-based strategies to address the inequities in our community.  Nelima has more than 17 years of experience in community and economic development, public policy, community engagement and racial and housing justice. She brings a wealth of demonstrated knowledge and experience to developing asset-based frameworks and narratives that are rooted in community. She is a leader in many areas in our region and was selected to the 2021-22 Minnesota Young American Leaders Program cohort. She is also a Humphrey Public Policy Fellow alumni.

 

As a reliable problem solver with unique ability to scale from concept to execution she has been tapped to lead in a variety of areas.Nelima served as a long time chair of the Metropolitan Council’s Equity Advisory Committee. She is also the Board Chair of the Alliance for Metropolitan Stability, a coalition of community-based organizations and advocacy groups building shared power to advance strategic campaigns around the intersections of racial justice, economic justice, environmental justice, and health equity. She also serves as a Board member of Women Venture, providing women of all ages, cultures, races and income levels with the tools and resources to achieve economic success through small business ownership.

 

Nelima is an avid relationship builder with a passion for connecting and motivating stakeholders to build regional equity through people driven strategies to maximize our potential.
