About the Event
MAU’s new initiative: "Minnesota-Africa Connection: Commerce, Trade and Foreign Affairs" on August 9th with the African Diplomatic Corp from Washington DC: U.S. African Trade & Investment on August 9th for the visiting African Diplomatic Corps on August 9th at the St. Paul University Club from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The purpose of this event is to build relationships with Minnesota elected officials and Minnesota business executives and companies from various sectors and to learn how to be a better voice for the African continent at the Federal level.
This initiative outlines a three-year project to raise public awareness of Minnesota’s diverse African community, with a focus on three dimensions of Minnesota’s ties. The new initiative will include the following elements:
- Foreign policy discussions, including official diplomatic connections between individual African nations and the United States
- A commercial link between Africa and Minnesota, including two-way investment interests.
- Examine how to strengthen African/US trade policy at the city, state, and federal levels including discussions around the extension of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), which is ending in 2025.
Please note this is an Invite Only Event for the African Diplomatic Corps, Minnesota elected officials, and business executives.
