JULY Event
Minnesota Africans United
Workforce Committee Webinar

Theme: A World of Opportunity Within the Workforce

Minnesota Africans United, in partnership with the Department of Employment and Economic Development, Ramsey County Workforce Solutions, Greater MSP, and Regional Chamber of Commerce is hosting a webinar focused on supporting a stronger workforce while ensuring that employers can easily find talent among the African immigrant community in Minnesota. The goal of this event is to discuss the importance of including all communities in the economic opportunities across our state. From our experience with employers, our state simply does not have enough people to meet employer demand. African immigrants are a critical piece of the equation to keep our economy growing and provide jobs to all people. This zoom event will take place on Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 1:00pm to 3:30pm CST.
During this webinar, we will hear from Minnesota Africans who will share their stories of employment challenges they have faced while entering the workforce and ways to mitigate these challenges. Speakers include: Teko Mikael Combey, Information Security Analyst at Target Corporation, Togo & Gabon; Miata Getaweh, African Immigrants Professional Development Conference, Liberia; Mamady Konneh, We Network Now, Guinea Conakry; and Lisa Perez, Prosperity Ready, USA.
In addition, we will hear from our Keynote Speaker, Hamse Warfa, Deputy Commissioner, Workforce Development who will share resources available at DEED that the Minnesota State Government has made available to build a stronger workforce within the immigrant community. We will also hear from experts in the field who will discuss the resources available in support of African immigrant workers in Minnesota. This event will feature experts from Regional Chamber of Commerce, Ramsey County Workforce Solutions, and Greater MSP.
