Business Development Manager (BDM)
The role of a Business Development Manager (BDM) at Minnesota Africans United (MAU) is to provide training, education, mentorship, coaching, and technical assistance for Minnesota African entrepreneurs who are either starting new businesses or growing existing ones.
The BDM is responsible for planning and overseeing the business development programs, including sales and marketing activities, in support of recruiting partners, sponsors, and program participants as well as supervising all aspects of program content and execution.

Position Description & Responsibilities:
Strategy and Development:
Design and execute marketing, communication, and outreach strategies to engage participants in programs.
Foster strategic partnerships with businesses, stakeholders, and government entities to support program objectives.
Drive the attraction of new businesses to training and mentorship programs through strategic initiatives.
Work with leadership to identify funding opportunities, grants, and sponsorships, enhancing organizational growth.
Develop and maintain key relationships with customers, suppliers, distributors, partners, and vendors, optimizing program success and expanding organizational reach.
Program Management and Evaluation:
Oversee the creation and implementation of training, workshops, and educational initiatives for startups and businesses, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission.
Regularly assess program effectiveness, making necessary adjustments to improve outcomes, engagement, and partner relationships.
Mentorship and Community Support:
Coordinate mentorship programs to connect entrepreneurs with experienced professionals, providing comprehensive support to address participant challenges.
Cultivate a supportive community for sharing resources and experiences, aiming to boost entrepreneurial success.
Technical Assistance and Industry Engagement:
Provide ongoing support in areas such as business planning, financial management, and marketing strategies through collaboration with experts and industry professionals.
Remain informed about industry trends and best practices to deliver relevant assistance to businesses in various sectors.
Networking and Promotion:
Actively participate in events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote the organization and forge industry connections.
Represent the organization in forums, highlighting its impact and success stories, while also seeking sponsorship opportunities and engaging in nonprofit collaborations.
Lead webinars and presentations to elevate the organization's brand and product profile.
Position requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or related field, MBA a plus 3-5 years’ supervisory or management experience
Skills & Qualifications:
Strong understanding of business principles, entrepreneurship, and the challenges faced by startups.
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, businesses, and community leader.

Benefits:
Annual salary: $80,000
