Our economy is powered by the contributions of the small business community including the Minnesota Africans immigrant community - the bold who see a new way of building - the dreamers who see the world as it could be and want to do more for themselves, their family, and their community to improve lives.

Making your dream come true of starting and scaling your new business takes a lot of planning and personal effort.

Join Minnesota Africans United with sponsorship from the Minnesota Employment and Economic Development and the City of Brooklyn Park, Bremer Bank and in partnership with SCORE Twin Cities and learn the basics to making your dream a reality by attending this five-week series "Simple Steps to Start Your Business."

In this powerful five-week series provided by experienced thought leaders, you'll learn how to:

  • Define and Evaluate your Business Idea

  • Develop a Marketing Strategy

  • Understand Business Financials

  • Identify the Best ways to Fund your Start-up

Each participant gains access to all the Minnesota African United and SCORE resources used in this series along with the full complement of SCORE business development tools and templates to make starting your business as efficient as possible. You'll also have experienced Minnesota Africans United and SCORE mentors on hand who are prepared to help you realize your dream of entrepreneurship!

  • Wednesday, May 22 – Session 2: Business Concepts by Richard Hamer

  • Wednesday, May 29 – Session 3: Marketing by Harry Miller

  • Wednesday, June 5 – Session 4: Lending & Financial Matters  

  • Wednesday, June 12 – Session 5: Cashflow & Funding Sources 

  • Graduation on June 21st will be celebrated with the MAU Team
